Hi! Welcome to WikiAfterDark- The Sex Wiki. I'm glad to see you registered for an account and are an active member. This site is just 'taking off' so to speak so we welcome anyone who will join us in expanding content and fighting vandalism. Hope to see more good work from you. If you have any questions ask one of the admins (Brian, Dan etc).
[edit] Which article are youSo far the engine for this has been implemented, however the questions must be tweaked. You end up being 1 of several articles related to how you answer the questions. For instance, if you answer the questions in a way that makes it seem like you'd rather be alone you match to Learn to masturbate. it's not quite completed because at the end when it tells you what you are, it will give a end image and brief description of why you are that as well as code to paste into your blog or forums. This end description is implemented for 3 out of the 7 end articles. In the next few days it will be finished and posted. Right now you can see our test version at www.wikiafterdark.com/quiz.php If you get one that isn't finished yet, check back after the weekend and it should be done.
[edit] Learn to Pullout in TimeI've noticed that in the article learn to pullout in time every sexual noun has been linked. On wikipedia because they are an encyclopedia they can afford to link every noun because there can be an article about it. Since we are primarily a sexual 'how to' so to speak, it doesn't make much sense to link things like 'cervix'. Generally what we've been trying to do is link things that could be related to a howto article, for instance in my Do Bukkake article, I linked Cum Swapping. Do you think there is a better way to interwiki link, or should we remove all of the unnecessary links? It's more difficult to link since we're a howto site I guess. Another thing we could do is make redirect pages for common things, and have them redirect to the closest howto article. So for instance, if you linked 'cum' if would redirect to 'Cum Swapping'. Letme know what you think about this issue. We're not sure how we want to do it yet.
[edit] Another commentI've been looking over your edits and i wanted to thank you for your diligent good work. To get the wiki started my cofounders and I wrote many of the origional 50 or so articles, but as you can see we have many typos and selling mistakes. lol. Thanks for helping us fix some content etc. Keep up the good work, try to get some of your friends to hitup the site too if you can. Sorry for so many comments to ya! lol
[edit] New Logo and Logo SectionThanks for the new logo section. We are trying to create a new logo as this one was created temporarily. I like the idea of the logo that you submitted with the moon in the background. One of the problems with it might be that it is square with no transparency. When trying to design the current logo (and believe me, we are not graphic artists) when we made it square it did not look good, just didn't blend into the page well. Taking a note from mediawiki, wikipedia, and mediawiki, they all have some sort of transparency going on that makes it no longer square. If we could come up with something graphically similar and professional looking that would be great. Logo design is really not my specialty, but if you have any more ideas or designs feel free and put them out there! [edit] Wikiafterdark PolicyWe have not yet made a wikiafterdark policy section (there's actually a dead link to it in the FAQ). We have not yet discussed what things we will and will not allow. We have denied child related material and beasteality material in the past, however those decisions were just made randomly by admins. One of the problems with denying possibly illegal material is that our visitors come from many countries with different laws. Even in the United States each different state has different laws, for instance in some sodemy is illegal. If you wish to take it upon yourself to begin writing a policy that we can look over and protect later then feel free. The naming convention must be "WikiAfterDark Policy" so that our bot doesn't update it to the homepage. SOme ideas for it would be like, no racial, ethinic, or religious discrimination, no articles pertaining to terrorism.. blah blah, I dunno how much of this affects this website since it's about sex, but who knows.
[edit] speaking of whichHey since you've been a wikipedian for a while, do you know of any others who would be interested in helping out with this project? Just a thought. We get between 1000 and 8000 visitors a day, but it's hard to convince people to contribute. If we could get some knowledgable wikipedians over here, we could have a real kick ass site (even more than it is already, lol).
We have 40 gigs of bandwidth per month (for both aftedark and wannawiki), to give you an idea about 8000 visitors use about 2.5 gigs of bandwidth. Currently for our images like at the end of the quiz- which can be posted on blogs etc, will be hosted on a seperate free server so that it can't interfere with the current pages running. The free hosting has I think 50 gigs per month (but is a crappier service). [edit] PromotionHey Dionyziz, Seems like you've talked to Brian a lot recently, i haven't had a chance to introduce myself, my name is Dan I am one of the admin's on the site. First I wanted to say that you are doing a really good job, the contributions you've been making are valuable and I really like the new logo design (even if it does replace the one I made :( ). We don't really go into it on the about page but Wikiafterdark is a spin off of our first site, WannaWiki (which we have kind of let fall by the wayside in recent weeks). WannaWiki was originally started by a core group of 5, the 4 main admins on this site Brian, Ben, Andy and myself as well as another person who kind of dropped off the project soon after it got started. We've known each other since high school so we're kind of a tight nit group and together we've been monitoring the two sites for graffiti, helping advertise, build content, etc. I'm telling you all this because you are now the first person outside of our group to be granted admin privladges on WikiAfterDark. If you'll notice you are able to roll back and delete articles, edit protected pages, protect pages and ban users. We decided to promote you up because we think you've done a lot of excellent work in a short amount of time and we'd like to see you stick around and help us out. Because your are first admin we haven't written any admin handbook or guidelines so I'll layout the bullet points for you real fast.
[edit] ContentWe debated a lot over where to draw the line when it came to content. When your dealing with sex people have a lot of weird things they are into and what may be really awful sounding to you or me is what really does it for another person. Because of that you'll notice there really is no formal policy on what someone can write about or not write about. We have kind of adopted the supreme court method for determing what we don't want on the site "i know it when i see it". Thus far we have only deleted 1 article (many times because they kept reposting it) purely based on the subject manner and that was on children. The two areas we have been able to draw the line without question are articles which concern having sex with children, pedophilia, etc and beastiality. It would be nice to draw the line at only writing about legal things but in many states missionary position is the only allowed sexual position, sodomy is against the law. If an article is about something that just feels really wrong to you, something akin to kdis or animals feel free to delete it. If it seems questionalble don't hessitate to talk with one of us. We often chat a lot over aim debating whether to delete or roll something back or not. I should also mention an area that is a problem more often then the above mentioned problems and that is things involving either condoms or moral judgements in general. One of our many unofficial slogans here is Wikiafterdark, we don't think your strange. People need a place to read about their perversions without being judged. A lot of teh articles i've written have little sarcastic quips through out and those are in good fun but if someone is really passing judgement on an activitey in an article then that comment needs to go. The biggest article to watch out for this in is Pick up a girl. If people disagree with the content they are free to write another article "how to pick up women while being a nice guy" put their comments into the discussion section, etc. They can't blast the article or the writer in the text of the article itself however. I also mentioned condoms, people like to edit articles and put moralistic speaches about how you should be wearing a condom or things like that. Whether it is a good idea or not people are free to wear condoms as they choose and if they choose not to I don't want those people crtized here. [edit] Affiliate LinksYou will notice that a lot of the articles have affiiliate links in them. This is one of the ways we make some revenue in order to keep the servers running and pay for the massive amounts of bandwidth we use each month. If anyone deletes these or changes them feel free to roll it back. [edit] BanningPlease consult with us before banning any user. [edit] Main pageThe main page is updated every 15 minutes by a bot so if you alter it your changes will be removed quickly anyway. If you see something that needs changing talk to Ben and he can fix it up for you. Alright thats about all I can think of. Good job again with all the work so far and I look forward to seeing what else you have in store. If you have any questions feel free to ask, you can IM me at TastywithMilk. Have a great night. --Dan 20:26, 12 Mar 2005 (CST)
[edit] Banning UserLooks Good! --Dan 22:29, 3 May 2005 (CDT) [edit] Footer across contentI was wondering if you could do something about the (google.ad) footer that spans the bottome of the pages ... the ad footer could "float" or somehow goto the bottom of the page when the page is loaded ... it usually ends up in the middle of the page covering content if the page is long. Thanks Reddi 09:47, 10 March 2006 (EST) Hey Dionyziz, welcome back. How's it goin? I hope I fixed that ]] problem on the main page for good, but I'm not sure yet. :) [edit] Please delete thisPlease delete People who should have died instead of Liza Phillips Email this article to a friend WannaWiki, all sister sites, employees and writers are not responsible for actions or the outcome of those actions taken based on information contained within each article.
